Vowel Rap

This video reinforces the 20 vowel phonemes in a fun, engaging way to improve speed, fluency and automatic recall. Knowing the phonemes is going to assist your child with reading and writing in the future. Singing can help children improve their capacity for learning. Music also serves as a mnemonic devise for certain skills and knowledge. By adding the movement of pointing, this helps to engage the child and assists to recall and preserve memory. It is also engaging both the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Our video incorporates all styles of learning, Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic.

When articulating the vowel phonemes, your child’s mouth needs to be open wide so they perform the correct articulation to reduce mumbling and slurring of words. When children begin reading and writing, the vowels are usually the hardest to learn to articulate and spell correctly.

Have fun with the Rap songs and try to sing them throughout the day to build on accuracy and fluency.
